International Diving Center Cayo Largo del Sur

Address : Cayo Largo del Sur, Archipiélago de Los Canarreos, Isla de la Juventud, Cuba. Aerea Zone : Archipiélago de los Canarreos. Operator : Marina Gran Caribe Cayo Largo del Sur. The Diving Center is organized accordingly International standard and is decreed with ca. 40 complete equipments and 120 Alu - and steel tanks with DIN/INT connection. Altogether, four boats are for 12 and 18 divers by disposal. Professional Diveguides accompany you during the diving . In the Diving Center is  220 V voltages, here you can load your accumulators, in the hotel only 125 V. Rent Equipment costs approximately CUC 15-20 per day. Diving places: Diving is at first place here of course, because the 50 defined diving places belong to the most beautiful of the Caribbean. Plunge into the untouched ness of a fascinating corals and wildlife. Beside caves, grottos and Drop-offs, you can take pleasure in the almost 600 coral types and hundred of sponge types. With some luck, you have the possibility, asleep sharks and passing “Zeppelins”, to meet from considerable size. Also Wal Sharks, Mantas, Barakudas and other big fish are to be seen at the diving places at the longest reef of the western hemisphere. The most beautiful diving places are only 5-10 miles off from the Diving Center, reachable in 15-30 boat minutes. The boats are comfortable.

 

Diving : You are picked up from a Shuttle-Bus at your hotel and are driven in approximately 10 minutes to the Marina. From there, it goes to the diving places, with what the exit lasts 20 minutes approximately. You are driven again to your hotel back afterwards. Against an extra charge of approximately 69 CUC for the day trips with two dives, that lead to outlying and untouched diving places, can be booked on the spot. Night diving take place every week with an extra charge of approximately 35 CUC after agreement.
Info about the Diving Center Playa Sirena: In July 96, the brand new build and full-equipped Diving Center started under German management in Cayo Largo Del Sur-Cuba on the Playa Sirena with international standard. By the last big Hurrican, however, the diving basis was destroyed totally there and was transferred after the “cleaning” into the Marina. Since then, the Diving Center is guided from Gran Caribe the Cuban Hotel Company of the Island.

 

Diving equipment: The accouterments objects, that you require during the diving days, are written down. In the Diving Center, you can lend all Equipment parts in principle. A distribution list lies in the office. During your diving days, the guests are responsible for the rent Equipment and hand over these again after the diving . Briefing about the Diving Center Cayo Largo
The Diving Center Management introduces itself  to you after your arrival in the hotel, mostly with the travel welcome and they will explain to you transfers and the whole Diving Center Information will be given to you.

Diving package: The on the spot booked diving packages must be paid cash.On the bank at the harbor their is the possibility to pickup money with credit card, consists besides American express. In Europe  booked diving packages are not transferable to other people! A reimbursement  of not  taken divings also is not possible! Dive Vouchers: The brought Dive Vouchers are controlled on the number of the courses, exits and diving package in the office of the Diving Center with your first appearance. Also the schedule of your courses as well as the times of the exits are discussed on that occasion.
Diving & planning: Entries into the diving  planning book are binding, i.e. entry is synonymous with settlement!  Broadly not taking  dives is extracted from this regulation of course!
Diving business rules: The depth border on the Diving Center amounts to 40 meters approximately, for divers from one through PADI, SSI and CMAS acknowledged Advanced-Nivel. With a Open Water Diver-Brevet or accordingly, maximum depths of 18m, accordingly the international Standards. Tank remaining pressure after the dive should not under-stride 50 bar! No decompression dives take place!
All dives  are guided, i.e. nobody dives without one of the Dive Guides + Instructors. Consequence is the instructions of the respective Instructors to be achieved!
Alterations into the Diving Center and in the entire on here described tourism program is reservated.

 

Also snorkeling and snorkel courses are offered and resort-diving-courses for non-divers.  Fullday boat trips  are offered to more distant islands, which is very interesting diving their available. The education takes place with ACUC, CMAS and SSI. Diving is done with mainly 12-liter-tanks and most modern diving equipment from the boat . You are accompanied to the diving  by professionally trained diving teachers. Before Diving, Dive Briefings are given to you. With spacious boats, it  goes to diving places of the superlatives.                                                                                                                                                                                      Here, you have one of the most beautiful diving paradises of the Caribbean before itself!

 

Bus-Transfer to the Diving Center: You will come to each of dive with bus to the Marina and the Diving Center.
The first bus in the morning picks up the guests at approximately 08:30 o'clock for the  morning dive from the hotel. With this bus, a dive guide of the Diving Center always will come along. If a guest comes to dive for the first time, taking this bus (Diving Center entry, luggage transportation) recommend itself.
For the at noon diving you have the possibility at ca.10:30 h with an Inclusive-Shuttlebus from the hotel, that also brings the guest to the harbor. From there, a liner then departs to the restaurant ‘' Playa Sirena ‘' also for bathers about 11 o'clock. There is from the hotel for the afternoon diving  the next possibility at approximately 14 o'clock, also an all including Shuttlebus. In the harbor, you then are expected on the dive boat.  A Shuttlebus returns to the hotels from there at 15 o'clock. The last return trip with the submersible is about 17 o'clock. Whoever would like  return non -scheduled to the hotel from the diving, can before the restaurant in Playa Sirena come to the Marina with one of the small boats (charged) in order to take from there the Shuttlebusse in claim.

 

Dive Boats : 4 yachts 41 feets (12 pax) 1 yacht 41 feets with capacity for 19 pax Boat list: Your name is written down into an boat-exit list. At entry in the boat, you are registered on this list again. The groups for diving is performed after the dive experience of your logbook. Normally, diving is  with the boat to the different diving places twice daily. After agreement a third dive can be done. Night dives be offered with extra charge. Hyper baric Chamber : In La Habana or Gerona, transfer by helicopter.

Weathers: In bad weather, the security proceeds, and all remain at land.

Diving area Cayo Largo:
They up to 30 nearby Dive Spots with boat commute with 10 - 30 minutes and the further removed diving goals is attainable at a boat trip between one and two hours.  The Diving Center offers one to two times in the week against an extra charge of ca.20-30 $day diving exits to the more distant islands at, like for example Cayo Rosario, Cayo Blanco or Cayo Sigua, with incomparable coral reefs, rare fishing and even a "blue hole ”, on board is offered a meal.

 

Diving places: The daily diving places are determined according to weather situation or the program of the Diving Center. It becomes asked you in order to guarantee the smooth course of the basis as diving guests to pause the on the spot agreed departure times strictly. At completely day exits, a meal can be offered on wish after agreement. There is Softdrinks on board.

Description of the bottom: The waters around the Cuban archipelago are characterized by their gentleness – mild tides and no strong currents -, their warmth over 24°C all year round, their virgin conditions - no pollution and well – preserved bottoms -, the diversity of its underwater flora and fauna, and the total absence of aggressive animals. In Cayo Largo del Sur the dive zone is divided into three areas.

The first one is located near the key, with typical coral borroms, barrier reefs, ridges and channels that form 18 meters ( 59 feet) deepform a curious sandy slope that falls into 33 meters ( 108 feet) deep, then it goes up as big coral mountains, forming the drop-off Brain, pillar, leaf and mountainous star corals together with feather-like gorgonians, sea fans and many other species are easily found. Fish are represented by schools of grunts, snappers, schoolmasters, dogsnappers, surgeofish, chromis and other coral fish, in some seasons you can also see the turtles, tarpons, eagle rays and stingrays.many lobsters, crabs and morays can be found in the rocky crevices and also queen conch colonies in the sand patches.

The secund dive area is located near Cayo Rosario, 29 Km. ( 18 Miles) to the West, with a very particular sea bottom at 18 meters ( 59 feet) deep, where coral billocks form a real labyrinth, the natural place where big black groupers, cubera snappers, dogsnappers, group of jacks, grunts, black margates, margates and porkfish swim.

The third area is 48 Km ( 30 miles) Northeast, near Cayo Sigua and Cayos Blancos, on the western side of Golfo de Cazones. All of them are spectacular wall dive sites, that falls sharply from 15 meters ( 49 feet) up to more than 200 meters ( 6656 feet) deep where big tube, basket and branch sponges, beautiful deep gorgonians and black coral colonies can be seen. Cubera snappers, barracudas, shoals of spadefish and many other coral fish swim around the drop-off and the wall.

Playa Sirena: On  Playa Sirena is a beautiful white sandy beach with beach restaurant where meals and beverages are offered.
