Description of the bottom: The waters around the Cuban archipelago are characterized by their gentleness – mild tides and no strong currents -, their warmth over 24°C all year round, their virgin conditions  - no pollution and well – preserved bottoms -, the diversity of its underwater flora and fauna, and the total absence of aggressive animals. In the waters arround Copacapana can be found a well preserved coral reef, with 30 meters (98 feet) visibility during the year and a very attractive fauna. When we go far from the coast, the bottom goes down slowly like a stair, with the first step  between 12 and 20 meters (39 and 66 feet)then there is a coral ridge zone and the second step is between 30 35 meters (98 and 115 feet). This pattern is only interrupted by the chanels of small rivers that flow to this coast. The sessile fauna in this coast is very attractive, colorful, well developed and diverse. Sea fan prairies, more than 20 different species of gorgonians, big sponges like the Venus basket are abundant. Massive or flat corals such as brain, mountainous star, leaf or finger, also the flower coral and the cavernous star coral can be seen. There are very few predators, so coral fish are abundant everywhere, thus giving a special charm to this area populated by big schools of blue and gray chromis, squirrelfish, bigeyes, fairy basslets, grunts, goatfish, damselfish, butterflyfish, wrasses, small parrotfish and surgeonfish. It is also very frequent to see green and spotted morays, cornetfish, scorpionfish, the dancing drums, filefish and porcupinefish.
